Tishon Woolcock

Website Design & Management

Tishon is a designer and poet. He runs a design practice that brings together the disciplines of marketing, design, and technology to help people (and companies) reach the people they want to reach. He develops identity systems; designs and builds websites; as well as designs books, posters, and graphics for apparel.
 
Between 2010-2013, Tishon worked in exhibit planning and design at Ralph Appelbaum Associates where he helped design the exhibits at The Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington DC.
  
Tishon is a Poets House Emerging Poets fellow (2014). He’s read and performed his work for audiences all over New York City. His poems have been published in various publications.
 
In 2012, Tishon founded Well&Often Press, an indie press that published his first book, The Letter All Your Friends Have Written You, a collaboration with the poet Caits Meissner. Well&Often went on to publish a chapbook for Sudanese-American poet Safia Elhillo, interviews with Warsan Shire, Ocean Vuong, and the works of other poets, writers and educators.
  
Artist Statement
I believe that words and language are humankind’s greatest asset. Thus, I’m sensitive to how we communicate with the present and the future. The work of design and poetry are not dissimilar. Both employ techniques of distillation to communicate an essential message or truth. I love that.
